Big Stripers

I’m still waiting for the Gar to start boiling and rolling on the surface and the spring Gar season to start. Meanwhile I went striper fishing with a good fishing friend at night and look what we caught two big stripers 20 & 23 lbs. that was a blast. But I still can’t wait for the Gar to start to bite. I’m ready. GarManJack

Flying Fish

Have you ever caught a flying fish?

This is a flying fish, all the way out of the water caught by that nylon rope lure, what a jump.

Looking Back - 2004

2004 was a good year for Gar Fishing for me. Lots of good memories and a very sad one like the passing of my wonderful and great companion Big Jett, he was my beautiful black Labrador for 15 years, I’m trying to think only of the good times we had. His grave is right beside the path to the dock that we both took so many times and I talk to him each time I pass now, Its amazing how close a bond between a man and his dog can become..

Boy I thought I had the state record, but after about 15 min. I could see what was the trouble the lure was caught around his tail, and I was bringing him in backwards.

This is probably the best picture that I've made of a gar in a action jump also note the top water lure, what a fish, what a blast. 

This Gar was just released, and said thank you thank you, I'm out of here. 

More action - Jumping fools. Most fishermen don't know what they are missing, they think these hard fighting fish are trash fish not worth fishing for. Just look at the action, and give it a try.  

This one almost jumped in the boat - also note he went through the lure and it caught around his head. Lot of jumping action on this one. 

I think this was the last gar of the season last year - also caught trolling a fly rod. It's more fun sight casting to them, but I'll take them anyway I can. There are a lot more pictures from last year I'll show more later if you guy's would like to see them?. 

This is my great grand son Kieth, he's only 6 yr. old - but he's right in there with the rest of us when it comes to gar fishing.
